In this exercise, we would like to introduce you to the field of landscape architecture.

Landscape architecture covers a wide range of design projects with varied typologies and scales.

In this map, we have selected some landscape sites in Hong Kong for your exploration.

Their sizes range from:

  • Small (approx.10x10m),
  • Medium (approx.100x100m),
  • Large (approx.1000x1000m), to
  • Extra-large (approx.>1000x1000m).

These sites reflect different types of landscape spaces in our environment, they include:

  • Community Space
  • Country Park
  • Heritage / Historic / Cultural Site
  • Industrial Zone / Brownfield Site
  • Infrastructure
  • Land Reclamation
  • Streetscape
  • Urban Park / Pocket Park
  • Village
  • Waterfront

Each of you please select one of the sites that you are interested in, and share with us how you imagine a landscape architect may involve there.

Please feel free to take a look at the keywords in the “description” of each site, in order to understand the context more. For your reference, you can also consider the following aspects when exploring how a landscape architect may work at your selected site:

Climate Change

Community  / Stakeholders / Demography

Culture / History / Heritage

Ecology (Flora & Fauna)

Material and Technology

Policy

(Please also be encouraged to explore aspects not listed here!)

To share your thoughts, please create a pin in the Google Map, to type in a few lines to describe how you think a landscape architect will work at the site, and/or to upload reference images/photos to share your thoughts. Please be sure to type in your name when sharing!

Please spend approximately 15min on this, then we will do some sharing together!
